his was our second trip and another wonderful experience. We have two young girls (5,7) and Dan was so great with them.

Amazing day on the water! Captain Dan was a great tour guide and accommodating with our children on the boat. The boat itself was immaculate and very comfortable. We saw so much and we’re able to swim for a bit in a relatively short period of time. Dan is an amazing guide and has a beautiful new boat! This was our first tour with Dan and we will be booking again the next time we are in town without a doubt. He knew so much about Charleston, took us by several historic sites including the Battery, the Ravenel Bridge up close and many more! We saw so many things on our tour and the ride was comfortable and luxurious. The boat was stunning and super clean. It was only my husband and I on the tour which was nice and private but if your group has a few more the boat can accommodate comfortably. It was 27 feet long and has comfortable seating in the bow and in the rear of the boat as well. We left out of Shem creek marina and it was nice to get a full tour of the area. Dan was a pleasure and you could tell he knew his way around. Another really important note, Dan was a very safe captain. Overall a perfect day trip!! We left at 11AM and the weather was also perfect during that time. Don’t hesitate to commit. Book your trip with Dan as soon as you can because his tours fill up and you won’t want to miss out! Dan was a great host and wonderful tour guide. Dan's knowledge of the Charleston area was outstanding. He also did a great job of explaining the creeks and marsh eco-system to our 8 and 9 year old girls. We spent about 3 hours touring the harbor and creeks. The highlight of the evening was swimming and finding sharks teeth. By the end of the night our 8 year had become co-captain and was helping Dan drive the boat. It was a great evening. GP 7/24/20
Captain Dan's water tour was the highlight of our trip to Charleston. Captain Dan was very knowledgeable and showed us the history of the Charleston harbor and also the sites from filming Outer Banks. Captain Dan, thank you for MAKING our trip to Charleston. We knew we wanted to get on the water but didn't want a super stuffy fancy tour. We wanted a local who was funny, involved and made us feel relaxed. Captain Dan did just that!! He is so knowledgeable, funny and easy going. Captain Dan’s tour was the perfect afternoon for our family visit to Charleston! We have been visiting Charleston for years, but Captain Dan showed us waterways we had never explored, and the history, photos and sketches he shared made it so much more personal and interesting! WOW! We let him choose the route and it was an amazing mix of waterways, animals, architecture, history, bridges, and current events. Our teens loved it ALL, plus jumping off the boat to swim. Captain Dan was uber flexible and kind. The boat was immaculate and super comfortable. We will add this to our list of MUST DO activities that we share with all of our friends. Captain Dan was a true Captain. Knew his history and conversed the whole trip. We took the 2 hr and it was worth ever Penny. The smaller boat made it very personable instead of a boat that halls 100. I highly recommend this event. Good people and great area to see. - 9/27/13
We had an absolute blast on Captain Dan's Water Tour. Our Captain took us on a complete water tour up small creeks to see egrets, herons and other water birds and then out into the Charleston Harbor to see the beautiful city from the water. We rode for two hours just viewing and listening to Captain Dan explain all that we were seeing. We found him to be very knowledgeable about the environment, the waterways and the history or the area. Anywhere we wanted to go he was more than willing to take us there. He wanted us to have a good time....and we did!!! We will highly recommend using Captain Dan as your tour guide through out the waterway. - 9/23/13

I live in Mt Pleasant. When my daughter and her friends were coming for a visit, I wanted to do something special with them. We all had an amazing time, Captain Dan really knows the water, when the girls wanted to see something he would change his course and respond. If you are having visitors coming show them the beautiful Charleston waterways with Captain Dan!
We purchased this tour through living social when looking for things to do while on a family vacation. From the time I purchased the voucher to the time we used it (Thanksgiving week 2012) Captain Dan was more than helpful. He gave us recommendations for things to see and do as well as local restaurants to visit during our stay. While I did not experience the tour myself (we did it for the kids) everyone that went really enjoyed the tour and thought that Captain Dan knew the area and was a wonderful guide. I hope they (my kids) post the sunset pictures they took while on the tour as they were gorgeous!!! I hope we will see Captain Dan again on future visits.
We let our teenage kids skip school today and took a Charleston Harbor tour with my 70 yr old parents and we all loved it. Capt. Dan does a great job of explaining tides, the marshes, rivers, waterways and history of the area. I liked how it was laid back and we could linger watching the dolphins. It was really cool to get to see the USS Yorktown that close from the harbor side. And, I really liked the spot you took us where we "met" the ocean, it was beautiful. I also appreciated how clean and well kept your boat was. Thanks for a great day on the water and we hope to see you again when the weather warms back up next year for another tour.
My family was on vacation in Edisto and we had purchased a deal with http://livingsocial.com for a two hour water tour on Shem Creek. We were set to leave at 6pm but arrived at the dock just about 20 minutes late thanks to all the commuter traffic. Captain Dan was waiting graciously on the dock for us. He has a gorgeous 22ft' Scout Sportfisher stocked with plenty of water and gatorade. He allows you to BYOB and snacks. We took off out of Shem Creek which was spectacular at high tide flanked with great blue herons and dolphins swimming next to the boat.
Along the way Captain Dan stopped to tell us about the historical points of interest as well as the local point of view. We went on an extensive tour of the harbor stopping by Rainbow Row and Fort Sumter. My favorite memory was in the creeks over by Morris island which was breathtaking at sunset.
We had a great time with Captain Dan. The tour was so thorough and he went above and beyond for us. Although we were just about 20 minutes late he allowed the tour to go on well past the two hours we paid for. You can't beat the value in this intimate tour of the Charleston Harbor. I highly recommend this to any one looking for an authentic tour without feeling too 'touristy'. - LindsayH MA
